For those of you who know me, know that I am a huge Sci-Fi fan. Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate – I love them all! Sometimes, the stories within the stories, reflecting the development of relationships between main characters, will grab me and take hold. Especially if the relationship is a romantic one. One such relationship is that of Col. John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan, on the Stargate Atlantis tv series. Played by actors Joe Flanigan, and Rachel Luttrell, they never quite became a couple but there was plenty of chemistry between the two. If you are part of any ComicCon, fanfiction, or other fan-based groups, you would see that this pairing is quite popular, and many people wish their characters had gotten together during the show. I am certainly one of those fans.
I am so obsessed by John and Teyla’s story, that I designed an entire styled wedding photo shoot around it. This is my interpretation of their wedding, had it taken place during the tv series. My fabulous team of vendors joined me at the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio, to produce this stunning visual tribute to one of my favorite shows, and two of my favorite characters. Anyone die-hard “Stargate Atlantis” fanatics? Or how about outer space buffs? Regardless, this “Stargate Atlantis” inspired wedding editorial is right up your alley. Kimberly Lehman from Love, Laughter, & Elegance planned this stellar shoot with epic attention to detail and an explosion of any and all things about space exploration.
Kimberly headed to the Great Lakes Science Center to dress it up with deep jewel tones like midnight blue, royal blue, emerald and jade green; with pops of gunmetal gray and naturally, gold. The shades were a common feature in the sci-fi show and of course, looking up into the heavens, you’ll see a few of them staring back at you. We love the fun allusion of spheres in the ceremony setup, and the reception’s tablescape hosts an elongated floral centerpiece with beautiful geometric structures. Without fail, the EAT Cake 216 stood its ground and rose to the occasion. The three-tiered cake was brushed with various dark shades and had stand-out gold constellations dotted throughout. Cheers to this group of talented vendors. You all out did yourselves!
