In this vintage sherbet wedding inspiration by Art Goans Photography, my thoughts immediately flew to weddings from yesteryear, particularly from the 1960s. The mod movement heralded colors becoming brighter, prints were more bolder, and “slim” and “mini” became frequently-heard and seen. The sartorial explosion was global and clearly, still stands strongly today.

Kimberly Lehman from Love, Laughter, & Elegance: Wedding & Event Planning is a die-hard fan of shades of pink and peach (who isn’t, right?). When she came across her venue of choice–The Cross-Eyed Moose–she fell for the quirky country-western vibe and the overall deep brown, rustic interior would hold up well against the sharp contrast of the color palette she had her heart set on featuring. The guest table centerpiece was a very full arrangement in a large trumpet vase that had mandarin oranges and peach slices at the base, for added color. The centerpiece, boutonniere, and bouquet were comprised of coral and pink roses, pink peonies, lavender stock flowers, baby’s breath, ferns, and a variety of greenery for texture. We think Pretty Petals Design nailed a home run with these blooms.

Our most favorite element, however, was the vintage 1960s Mustang that showed up quite serendipitously. A married couple was visiting the venue for the day and this was the vehicle they were in. They graciously said yes when asked if it could be featured in the shoot, and the rest is history. Funny how things work out so well don’t they?

Our Stargate Atlantis styled shoot was featured on Storyboard Wedding!!

For those of you who know me, know that I am a huge Sci-Fi fan.  Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate – I love them all!  Sometimes, the stories within the stories, reflecting the development of relationships between main characters, will grab me and take hold.  Especially if the relationship is a romantic one.  One such relationship is that of Col. John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan, on the Stargate Atlantis tv series.  Played by actors Joe Flanigan, and Rachel Luttrell, they never quite became a couple but there was plenty of chemistry between the two.  If you are part of any ComicCon, fanfiction, or other fan-based groups, you would see that this pairing is quite popular, and many people wish their characters had gotten together during the show.  I am certainly one of those fans.

I am so obsessed by John and Teyla’s story, that I designed an entire styled wedding photo shoot around it.  This is my interpretation of their wedding, had it taken place during the tv series.  My fabulous team of vendors joined me at the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio, to produce this stunning visual tribute to one of my favorite shows, and two of my favorite characters.  We have been blessed to have this styled shoot featured on the StoryboardWedding blog!  I hope you enjoy!

Stargate Atlantis Inspired Wedding Editorial

Anyone die-hard “Stargate Atlantis” fanatics? Or how about outer space buffs? Regardless, this “Stargate Atlantis” inspired wedding editorial is right up your alley. Kimberly Lehman from Love, Laughter, & Elegance planned this stellar shoot with epic attention to detail and an explosion of any and all things about space exploration.

Kimberly headed to the Great Lakes Science Center to dress it up with deep jewel tones like midnight blue, royal blue, emerald and jade green; with pops of gunmetal gray and naturally, gold. The shades were a common feature in the sci-fi show and of course, looking up into the heavens, you’ll see a few of them staring back at you. We love the fun allusion of spheres in the ceremony setup, and the reception’s tablescape hosts an elongated floral centerpiece with beautiful geometric structures. Without fail, the EAT Cake 216 stood its ground and rose to the occasion. The three-tiered cake was brushed with various dark shades and had stand-out gold constellations dotted throughout. Cheers to this group of talented vendors. You all out did yourselves!

We have been blessed to have our Earth Angel Styled Wedding Photo Shoot featured on Storyboard Wedding!!  The Earth Angel shoot was one of the largest and most elaborate we have produced so far, in February of 2019.  Held at the Glidden House in Cleveland, Ohio, and photographed by Stephanie and John Uptmor of Imagine It Photography, it was a wonderful day, filled with fantastic models and vendors collaborating to create amazing art.  Enjoy!

Moody Vintage Wedding Inspiration

An antiquated wedding styled shoot always has a few of these essential components: brushed, aged metallics; muted colors seen in florals or other design elements; and baubles scattered throughout the aesthetic. More is always more when it comes to vintage editorials, and we couldn’t help but realize that this is so on par with moody wedding inspirations. The design concepts for both are almost always luxe and glamorous, with an element of very slight modernity. These two styles absolutely adore their trinkets and their attention to detail, but you’ll also find contemporary styles like geometrics or sharp lines and crisp colors thrown into the mix. Love, Laughter, & Elegance’s moody vintage wedding inspiration is a divine example of these awesome vendor teams taking the now-often-seen vintage wedding trend into the current age.

Event planner Kimberly Lehman was inspired by seasonal transitioning and wanted to showcase it by bringing “heaven on earth”. We are besotted with this color palette: dusty blues, steel greys, lavender, blush, peach, and gold. It’s such a striking line-up and to follow up with that, the florals by Celestial Blooms were so stellar and lush. Large installations were created for the ceremony and reception concepts, respectively. The bridal bouquets donned a variety of blooms like lavender and blush roses, white hydrangea, silver dollar eucalyptus, protea, wheat, pampas grass, albino peacock, and white ostrich feathers. We also get to see a fun idea of having two brides with two different looks, and then outfit changes to give more variety to the viewer. Undoubtedly, after checking out the photos, this inspiration was a labor of love and we completely commend everyone on such a job well done.

We were featured in Southern Celebrations Magazine!

We have been blessed to have our Audrey Hepburn – Funny Face Movie Inspired styled bridal photo shoot featured on the Southern Celebrations Magazine website!  This feature was also recently published in Vol. 8 of the print edition.

Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire are Hollywood Icons.  Funny Face has been one of my favorite movies for as long as I can remember.  The fashions (House of Givenchy), the music, the scenery (Paris and New York) are just incredible.  I highly recommend watching this classic film!  Here is my tribute to them.  Enjoy!

‘Bridal Boudoir – A Definite “I Do!”‘

(Disclaimer:  Mature content in post.  Please, no readers under 18 years old.)

Several months ago, I asked Virginia Buckner, the editor and owner of Southern Celebrations Magazine, what type of features she was looking to promote within the next volume of the magazine (Vol. 8).  This issue is currently available to order, by the way (insert shameless promotional plug here).  She mentioned that she was looking for a styled photo shoot featuring a bridal boudoir theme, and an accompanying article about this particular genre of photography, and why it would appeal to brides.  This got my wheels turning.  What my team of models and vendors worked with me to create is nothing short of absolutely and amazingly gorgeous!!  So please enjoy!!
