Who Doesn’t Like Flannel?

We all know that black and red go together like PB&J but the flannel with the neutral, coral and light blue accented bouquet really give this Kate Spade inspired photo shoot some zing! Let’s not forget to mention that every bride needs a great pair of shoes. I would wear those any day of the week 🙂 Loving the contrast. It all fits together so nicely.

Don’t miss out!! Follow us on Instagram to see more from this shoot. Definitely feel free to follow the lovely planners and photographers as well. Their links can be found at the bottom.

We have been featured on the Pretty Pear Bride!!

In September of 2018, in honor of my 45th birthday, I collaborated with several talented vendors on a little styled photo shoot.  Usually I am the one coordinating all of the vendors, models, decor and details, but this time, I wanted to do something just for me.  The end result was a fun-filled afternoon of pampering, and I felt like a queen!  I could not have done this without my fabulous vendor team.  Thank you very much, dear friends!

The styled shoot is featured today on the Pretty Pear Bride blog!  My advice:  Never be afraid to celebrate you!  Enjoy!

STYLED SHOOT | 45 AND FABULOUS | WHATNOT SHOP PHOTOGRAPHY

Today we are sharing an amazing styled shoot. It’s a shoot from someone out of our own wedding industry community… I just love that. Check out what Kimberly of Love, Laughter and Elegance: Wedding and Event Planning.

“This is a styled shoot, celebrating the woman that I am at this point in my life. I am a wedding and event planner with over 20 years of experience. I am also a wife to a fantastic husband, and mom to two awesome daughters. I am confident in my own skin, proud of my education, accomplishments, and abilities, and damn sexy in my own right! I wanted to do something special for myself for my birthday, and to be able to share that day with others.”

What was your design inspiration? have seen other milestone birthday celebrations shared online, and I wanted to do something similar for my 45th birthday, which took place in September. I love the fun, bright colors and peppy style of Kate Spade, and wanted to bring that out in this photo session. Those shades of hot pink, blush, black and gold are some of my favorites, and are also my business branding colors, so it went along perfectly! I wanted to showcase the woman I have become at this stage of my life: educated, successful, vibrant, and damn sexy in my own right!

Describe your flowers. My flowers are a mixture of lush silk blooms, in shades of white and pink: dahlias, magnolias, jasmine, peonies and roses.

Describe your cake. The stunning cake was created by Debbie Wright of Cake Wasted. It is frosted in edgy black fondant, giving it a chalkboard effect. The cake was trimmed in narrow gold ribbon, edible gold paint drips, and blush pink silk blooms. It is easily my favorite cake!

Tell us about your attire choices.I wanted to share my sultry, sexy, and fun-loving sides in this celebration shoot. For one of my looks, I chose a my blush pink leather jacket, which was layered over a black lace bodysuit, and blush tulle skirt. Another one of my favorite looks, was my black strapless dress, to which I had my fabulous seamstress, Laurie Wallick of Lorili Design, add a fun hot pink chiffon ruffle. Of course, what birthday celebration would be complete without a gorgeous tiara! I had so much fun choosing that particular piece, and I definitely felt like a queen for a day!

Please describe any DIY, handmade or personal details. Most of the details were pretty classic, simple and elegant. That is my personal style. The cute paper pinwheels that were attached to the message board were created by Melissa Walker. The sign that I am holding in one of the photos describes some of the things that were popular and culturally relevant in 1973, my birth year. It made for a fun keepsake.

Describe the tablescape elements. The table was covered in a floor length white linen, and topped with a large black and white checked cloth. The stylish cake was placed on a clear glass cake plate, and the gorgeously decorated birthday cookies were styled on a vintage gold framed mirror tray. We added napkins in coordinating colors, and a bottle of bubbly and gold-rimmed crystal champagne flutes. We also had a couple of cute stemless wineglasses, and fun straws.

‘Summer of Love’ – Fun 1960s Garden Wedding Inspiration

IMAGINE IT PHOTOGRAPHY

Today we’re going back to the swinging sixties – fitting really given the news today 🙁 – with a charming garden wedding inspiration shoot full of mod fashion, daisies (one of my favourite flowers) and super sweet details; all in a vibrant palette of white, yellow and green that screams Summer……

1960s Inspired Summer Daisy Wedding

“Welcome to the Summer of Love!  The 1960’s were such a cool era.  I love Mod looks, the glamorous hair and makeup, and the groovy fashions.  I also love bright colors and flowers.  Daisies were the perfect fit for this sweet little styled shoot, they are such cheerful and hearty flowers. I decided to use a bright yellow and white color scheme to bring it all together.  The overall look is fresh and light, perfect for summer!

We used two different bouquets.  One is a brooch bouquet of daisies, created especially for this shoot by Susie Kays Design.  The bridal bouquet was a mix of daisies, hydrangea, and small fillers.  The bridesmaid bouquet was a mix of daisies.  The table centerpiece was a mix of daisies, hydrangea, and fillers in a rustic teapot, set upon a vintage cake stand.

The cake by Cake Wasted was a beautiful three tier confection of perfection!  The bottom tier was hexagon shaped, covered in yellow fondant frosting and a delicate white geometric pattern.  The top two round tiers were covered in creamy white fondant frosting, and adorned with a cascade of handcrafted daisy blooms.  The golden cake topper, provided by Everlaser, read “I love your sunny funny face.”  It was a cute nod to one of my favorite actresses, Audrey Hepburn, and complemented the bright yellow color scheme of the shoot.

I wanted vintage attire for this shoot.  I chose an elegant, long sleeved cream gown, which featured a woven cream and gold top, and a wide gold belt, which looked amazing on Lauren.  On our bridesmaid model, Sammy, I chose a flirty sundress in light yellow with an overall polka dot design. We accessorised with a pale yellow birdcage veil, and short vintage gloves. On our groom Brandon, we kept a clean, classic look with a button down shirt, pastel bow tie and suspenders.  On Lauren’s adorable daughter Addie, we chose a light yellow shantung dress with a simple white organza overlay skirt that had a few floral appliques.

Our tablescape was an eclectic mix of items.  The lemon yellow satin tablecloth was topped by a daisy print runner, handmade by Laurie Wallick of Lorili Design.  We used beaded glass charger plates, white dinner plates with a basket weave detail, and smaller dessert plates with hand painted daisies on them.  Glassware was a combination of vintage green cut glass goblets, and small champagne flutes.  The matching napkins and napkin rings were also made by Laurie Wallick.  The centerpiece was placed on a vintage white cake stand.”

We have been mentioned on the WeddingDay Magazine Blog!

We have been blessed to have been mentioned in a feature on the WeddingDay Magazine website!!  In February of 2018, on Valentine’s Day, a group of very talented vendors, models and photographers came together for a styled bridal photo shoot, in New Albany, Ohio, as part of the Styled Shoots Across America 2018 Tour.  As the only Ohio stop on the tour, we were very excited to assist with the details for this photo shoot.  Our friends Lauren and Brandon were our models.  They are also a real life couple, who will be married later this year, and we have the honor of planning their wedding!  Please enjoy the gorgeous photos.  Cheers!

If you live in the Midwest, you are well aware that spring weather isn’t always necessarily cooperative. And although this shoot took place on Valentine’s Day, and therefore needed to take place indoors, it certainly proves that spring-inspired hues can really make for a light and airy wedding whether there’s rain, snow or shine! We are all heart eyes for this romantic, red and pink spring-inspired style shoot, beautifully captured by Michelle Rakotomalala of Rakoteet Photography.

The brand new venue where the shoot took place offered many great elements for the team. Michelle says, “We loved all of the windows and skylights in the venue allowing for lots of natural light. They also have a beautiful ballroom.”

The bride’s gorgeous gown, soft curls and a neutral makeup were perfect for the romantic, spring vibes the team was trying to achieve. An ombre pink cake, bouquets and centerpieces filled will pink roses and picture-perfect rentals completed the overall look. The rentals included a vintage furniture set up, a vanity for the cake and desserts, tablescape rentals and a heart-shaped backdrop for the sweetheart table.

Our Vibrant Country Villa shoot is featured on the Southern Celebrations Blog!!

In December of 2017, Southern Celebrations Magazine announced a Creative Challenge.  Those interested were to design a styled photo shoot, featuring one or more of Pantone’s Spring 2018 Top Twelve Colors.  The photo shoot had to feature several styled vignettes, including a tablescape, cake/dessert table, and fashion.  The winners of the Challenge would be featured on the blog and in the upcoming Volume 7 of the magazine. We answered the Challenge!

On Sunday, February 4th, 2018, my team of very talented vendors and models gathered at the Sunset Vista Ranch, LLC.  The results of our Vibrant Country Villa styled bridal photo shoot were absolutely amazing!  Our team’s collaboration was one of the top 3, chosen from over 70 entries!  We are very excited to share the blog post from Southern Celebrations with you!  Enjoy!
