Purple Haze Inspiration Board

I felt it was time to add another inspiration board to my growing collection.  Shades of purple and silver have been favorites of mine to use for some time now.  It’s a very regal combination, and can be used in every season of the year.  In the spring and summer, you can use lavender and lilac.  In the autumn and winter months, you can use plum, royal purple, eggplant, slate and charcoal grey, and pewter.  Around the Christmas holidays, you can jazz things up with jewel tones and sparkling silver.  The possibilities are endless.

I see this board as being used for a late summer to mid-winter affair, with colors and textures being rich and plentiful.  A true feast for the senses.  This is where you can indulge in velvets, satins, silks, and lush bouquets of calla lilies, roses and other blooms.  Imagine the walls of your event venue being splashed with washes of red and blue lighting to compliment your tables.  Picture your event with lots of romantic candles everywhere, and the heavenly scent of your flowers in full bloom, atop gleaming silver candleabras, and shimmering tableclothes.  Sound good?  I can’t wait to bring my ideas to life!  Enjoy!

I had the pleasure of working with Michelle & Matt on their wedding.  They are such a fun-loving couple!  I really enjoyed seeing all of their plans come together, and sharing a great evening with their family and friends.  It was truly an elegant affair, with many unique details.

Michelle & Matt were married Saturday, May 24th, 2008 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Canton, Ohio.  They had a perfect sunny day, with temperatures in the 70′s.  Father Brad Helman officiated the ceremony.  The wonderful music was provided by Soloists Carol Clark and Marisa Stoll, Organist Beth Herbst, and Trumpeter Chris Hall.  Tom Forrest Photography and Just Perfect Video provided coverage of the day’s events.  Transportation from the ceremony to the reception was provided by Carrington Limousine Service.

The reception was held at Guy’s Party Centre, in Akron, Ohio.  This venue has 3 distinct rooms for events, each elegant and spacious.  Michelle and Matt’s reception was set up in the gorgeous South Ballroom, with its unique oval dance floor, high tray ceiling inset with twinkle lights, and elegant decor.  The staff at Guy’s was fantastic, providing all of the guests with exceptional service.  During the cocktail hour, guests helped themselves to a bountiful cookie and pastry buffet, as well as meat and cheese platters that were present at every guest table.  During the seated dinner, the guests had their choice of prime rib, stuffed scrod, or chicken.  Ivory table linens and black napkins were provided by Guy’s Party Center, and ivory chair covers with black organza sashes were provided by Sitting Pretty Linens.  Flowers for the bridal party and the reception were created by Seifert’s Flower Mill of Canton.  The bridal bouquet was comprised of roses, mini calla lilies, pearled stephanotis and crystal drops.  The bridesmaids carried lovely bouquets of roses.  The groom and his gentlemen, and the parents were presented with boutonnieres and corsages of roses.  The centerpieces at the reception were fashioned with tall eiffel tower vases, topped with full bouquets of roses, and surrounded at the base by candles nestled in black and white damask votives.  The spectacular wedding cake was created by the West Side Bakery.  The unique cake was covered in rolled black fondant, decorated with silver ribbon and a silver twig design, and topped with a matching silver twig figure.  Entertainment was provided on several fronts during the reception.  In the lobby area of the South Ballroom, Just Perfect Video played a video montage of Michelle and Matt, featuring photographs from their childhood through their courtship.  It was very touching, and drew many comments, and lots of conversation about the happy couple.  B.E. Mann, an outgoing and energetic reggae artist and entertainer well known in Northeast Ohio, provided the music and anecdotes throughout the evening, that kept the party hopping and the dance floor full.  One of his trademark activities includes getting the guests onto the dance floor with hula hoops.  It’s hilarious to watch!  The finale to the evening’s festivities included a special dance, created by two young ladies who were part of Michelle’s bridal party.  The junior bridesmaid and flower girl, sisters, performed a surprise routine to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.  They waited until close to midnight to dance, and it was quite evident that these two talented girls had put in many hours of practice to pull off such a complicated performance.  It was the hit of the evening.  I later asked the girls how long it had taken them to learn that routine, and the older sister replied about a week.  She told me that they watched a lot of YouTube videos, and copied the moves.  It was definitely one of the best dances I have seen!

This wedding was a great affair, and Matt and Michelle were very pleased with the results.  I could not be happier for this wonderful couple.  Congratulations and Best Wishes, Michelle and Matt!
