Purple and Orange are colors typically associated with fall, or Halloween. However, I think they make a very striking and stylish color palatte for a wedding. You can use this for most any season, and you can change the shades of the colors to suit your needs. For spring, you can use peach and lavender, for summer, a royal purple and coral, for the autumn and winter, shades of plum, eggplant, aubergine, rust, pumpkin and persimmon. Your colors can be played up in your table linens, flowers, uplighting, even wedding party fashions. The options are endless. And of course, don’t forget the one food item that always goes well with these colors: chocolate!! Enjoy!!

Autumn is right around the corner! I know what you are thinking, it’s just the middle of the summer, but soon enough, the kids will be trading shorts and t-shirts for school uniforms and sidewalk chalk for pencils and notebook paper. But I love autumn, it’s my favorite time of year. I love crisp days, with all the different colored leaves on the trees, and potted mums everywhere. I enjoy high school football games, apple and pumpkin picking, and other events of the season.
Autumn is when I think Mother Nature does her best work, with such a rich pallet of colors to choose from: red, burgundy, gold, apricot, orange, hunter green, and chocolate brown. Some of the most visually striking events can also be created with these colors. Weddings, rehearsal dinners, harvest celebrations, and of course, bridal and baby showers. A good friend of mine is expecting later this year, so we are planning her shower for the middle of the fall, using a theme of Rustic Elegance. We ideally want to hold the shower in an old barn, with lots of textural details: pumpkins, apples, candles, cozy fabrics, rich foods, and lots of fragrant flowers and leaves. I hope this serves as inspiration for your own celebration. Enjoy!!

“Everything old is new again”, “vintage”, “retro”, or even “what goes around comes around”. These are phrases you may hear or think of when it comes to planning a vintage or victorian inspired wedding. With a simple, yet striking and sophisticated, black and white or ivory color scheme, it goes to show that basic is not boring, and neutrals are never out of style. In this inspiration board, I have used several accessories, such as the feather fascinator, and the detailed ring pillow, to demonstrate that the smallest details can make a stylish impact. You could add a pop of bright color to break up the black and white, such as lime green, taxicab yellow, or fushia. Or you could soften this pallete with the palest shades of pink, blue, or lavender. The results will be visually arresting, and highly memorable. Enjoy!!

Spring is here! Think soft breezes, flowering trees, a riot of colorful flowers everywhere. It’s the time of year when we wear lighter, softer, flowing fabrics, when little girls dress in their spring best for parties, Easter, recitals, showers and weddings. That being said, I used two of nature’s prettiest colors, baby pink and white, and my love of the ballet, to create this lovely inspiration board. One of my current clients is a dancer, and this board is happily dedicated to her. Enjoy!!
Purple Haze – An Inspiration Board

I felt it was time to add another inspiration board to my growing collection. Shades of purple and silver have been favorites of mine to use for some time now. It’s a very regal combination, and can be used in every season of the year. In the spring and summer, you can use lavender and lilac. In the autumn and winter months, you can use plum, royal purple, eggplant, slate and charcoal grey, and pewter. Around the Christmas holidays, you can jazz things up with jewel tones and sparkling silver. The possibilities are endless.
I see this board as being used for a late summer to mid-winter affair, with colors and textures being rich and plentiful. A true feast for the senses. This is where you can indulge in velvets, satins, silks, and lush bouquets of calla lilies, roses and other blooms. Imagine the walls of your event venue being splashed with washes of red and blue lighting to compliment your tables. Picture your event with lots of romantic candles everywhere, and the heavenly scent of your flowers in full bloom, atop gleaming silver candleabras, and shimmering tableclothes. Sound good? I can’t wait to bring my ideas to life! Enjoy!
Pink Lemonade – An Inspiration Board

Since I am sitting at home, with about 10 inches of snow on the ground outside my windows, I have been wishing for warm weather. Not an uncommon wish if you live in Northeast Ohio in the winter! At any rate, when I think of spring and early summer parties, whether they are wedding showers, bridal luncheons, baby showers, an intimate garden wedding, or just an afternoon tea, I love the color combination of pink and yellow. The colors are just so fresh, and light, and cheerful, that you cannot help but smile at the thought of attending an affair that has this color scheme. You can go very light and delicate with the shades, and add touches of white with daisies, eyelet lace, and little petit fours. Or, you could decorate with bolder shades of pink and yellow, by incorporating fuschia gerbera daisies, taxicab yellow linens, or live canaries. Obviously, I am feeling whimsical and perhaps a bit ornery with my descriptions. It’s all in good fun. However you choose to decorate your party in this pallette, please don’t forget the lemonade! Enjoy!!
