Does this quote sound familiar? Ever wonder where it came from, or when it started? I was watching the finale of “Duel” tonight, and one of the questions was: “The phrase ‘always a bridesmaid, never a bride’ was made famous in ads for which product?”
The answers included the choices: a.) Listerine b.) Avon c.) Secret d.) L’eggs
Which do you think it was?
The answer completely shocked me: a.) Listerine!!!

The ad first appeared in 1920′s, with the claim that blamed a woman’s singlehood on bad breath! The sales of Listerine jumped from $100,000 in 1921 to 0ver $4,000,000 in 1927!!!

Now that’s the power of advertising!!!
